Event Type

In order to develop a climate-neutral economy, LBG (Liquefied Biomethane Gas) is seen as a high-potential alternative in the shipping and heavy duty transport sectors. International business community, technology developers and providers will discuss this topic on 8 March 10:00 (EET).

The event is organized by the Lithuanian Maritime Cluster, its coordinator Klaipeda Science and Technology Park (Lithuania), participating in the Liquid Energy project, which is financed by the European Regional Development Fund, and the Shipping & Offshore Network (Norway).

In addition to reducing emissions, the circular economy is also important in assessing the benefits of LBG as LBG solutions help to achieve positive environmental impact.

Large-scale applicability of LBG still faces some challenges that are inseparable from the need for significant investment, so businesses are cautious about the existing technologies and the possibilities of integrating them into their processes.

However LBG should remain one of the strongest alternatives for achieving the EU’s long-term CO2 reduction targets today and in the nearest future. The experience already gained and success stories are a major boost for new potential users of this type of fuel. The shipping and heavy transport sectors are under increasing pressure from tightening regulatory mechanisms aimed at reducing emissions, so they are expected to be at the forefront of these changes. Customers that are increasingly focusing on green logistics chains are also dictating certain conditions – in addition to speed and reliability, environmental aspects are increasingly gaining ground in freight transport.

The upcoming webinar on March 8 will bring together technology developers and representatives of different transport sectors already applying these solutions and also those interested in such opportunities. We expect businesses from Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, Sweden and Poland in our speakers’ line-up and an even wider geography of participants!

Event time: Tuesday, March 8, 10:00 (EET).

Format: online/ Zoom platform. The link for joining will be sent for registered participants only.

Target audience: representatives of the shipping, road and rail freight sectors; agricultural industries.
