About KSTP

Greeting notice

By opening the door of the Klaipeda Science and Technology Park (KSTP) we intended to gather under one roof enthusiasts of successful development from Klaipeda city and all western Lithuania: progressive thinking students full of innovative ideas, post-graduates, entrepreneurs and their enterprises in order to enhance the collaboration between science, industry and other branches of economy as well as development of high technology sectors. We hope to interest the visitors of our internet site in our activity and encourage them to collaborate in development of an innovative environment and innovation based economy in the Klaipeda Region.

Challenges of the global economy and scopes of innovation culture development enhanced science and business collaboration in the Klaipeda Region and necessitated foundation of the Science and Technology Park. The KSTP was founded on September 6, 2002 in cooperation of Klaipeda University and the Ministry of Economy of The Republic of Lithuania. The first reconstructed building of KSTP was officially opened on January 16, 2004, and the second stage of reconstruction was finished on July 7, 2005. The Park was founded in the former premises of the Russian army division with tank sheds and a swimming pool for Soviet army soldiers.

At present the KSTP has more than 40 companies, public enterprises and branches of international companies acting in the innovation environment and the global market. During the seven years of work the Park has established a wide network of partners in all continents enabling boundless collaboration possibilities. It carries out intense project activities enhancing entrepreneurship and is actively working in the fields of technology transfer and transport development. A modern infrastructure, dynamic international activity and the gained competence ensures a wide and unique scale of services and an activity blend for everybody working and trying to create and implement technologies in the innovation environment.

The objective of the KSTP is to gather under one roof enthusiasts of successful development from Klaipeda city and all western Lithuania, progressive thinking students full of innovative ideas, post-graduates, entrepreneurs who aim to be the creators of the future of the region, who generate ideas and seek to implement them into businesses; to enhance collaboration between science, industry and other fields of economy as well as development of high technologies, to sustain and develop the scientific potential. The KSTP is the center of innovation culture and entrepreneurship enhancement in the Klaipeda Region.

The mission of the KSTP is to promote the development of modern scientifically susceptible technologies, to provide infrastructural and consulting services for innovative enterprises and business ideas in the western Lithuania and in the whole country.

KSTP team

Research and development projects in the modern knowledge and innovation based economy are developing rapidly. In the global market competences needed to implement the research and development projects cover a wide range of scientific, administrative and business knowledge. Therefore, the success of research and development projects depends on the competences of the implementation team. Help of local experts in the competitive markets it is not always sufficient, therefore, the KSTP team can support finding required cooperation with foreign specialists. The KSTP is a dynamic international unit ensuring high expert competence and success in project implementation. During the period of its activity the KSTP has created a wide and mature partnership net. Employing the collaboration possibilities and considering fields of research and development projects, the Park staff will create a competent and effective expert group: a "KSTP team" necessary for a project implementation.

Testimonials about 10 years of cooperation with KMTP

Our active cooperation with KSTP lasts for several years. We together with the Park and geothermal heat plant ‘Geoterma' AB carry out research concerning the use of geothermal water resources of Western Lithuania for balneotherapy, treatment, SPA procedures. We hope that this joint research will encourage making more efficient use of geothermal resources in our country and will help to develop health tourism.
